Biography
I began painting seven years ago at the Brisbane Institute of Art. Initially I painted with acrylics but have recently started to enjoy painting with oils. I like the brilliance of oil colours and their beautiful glow that emanates from the canvas. Being brought up with an artistic Dutch father, I developed an appreciation of the Dutch and Flemish masters from an early age and have always loved the works of the impressionists. My artistic inspiration and knowledge have since been broadened by my wonderful, patient and encouraging teacher at the Brisbane Institute of Art - Nameer Davis, Paul Milburn, Sally Cox and, most recently, Michelle van Epps. Painting gives me time for myself; I find it relaxing, stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable. |
